Opening Night Gig @ Water Rats, Kings Cross 3rd May 2008

Despite a distinctly early start in the evening, Interloper got straight into their stride regailing the crowd with their anthemic songs that just seem to get catchier everytime you hear them... Recent song additions, This Town and People Right On brought their set alive and their clearly loyal fanbase seemed to lap up all that was on offer, even allowing them to indulge in a new soulful number mid-set. This residency at the Water Rats should surely do them some good and project them onto a much bigger stage... keep watching.

Live Gig @ Carling Academy October 5th

"Thursday night at Bar Academy and Interloper burst onto the stage with new tune and opener Something For Nothing, grabbing your attention and demanding you listen. This is a big night for the band in support of two groups currently making lots of waves in the music press, Computer Club and The Twang, however, Interloper launch into their set with all their usual swagger and confidence.

Ten minutes in it hits me that Interloper must have been working hard. The sound has become fuller: guitar harmonies have been subtly tweaked to add a further layer of polish; the drumming is newly energising, flurries and clatters in all the right places challenging toes to tap; and moving Angus to bass seems to have been an inspired move - the sound heaves in a palpable groove.

The headliners have drawn a big crowd (including Editors' front man) as they are showcasing to the music industry tonight, but Interloper manage to grab the attention of those arriving, disarming them and drawing them in with their onslaught of hooks and melodies. Its not long before the crowd is buzzing and Interloper are thrilling with their performance.

Halfway through the set Mortlock debuts a solo tune, Were You Laughing? With just the singer and acoustic guitar, it's a reminder that this is a band with strength in songwriting, equally capable of a soulful paired-down sound as well as all out indie rock.

The final four songs ensure they go out with a bang, culminating in a raucous and uplifting Light Parade that leaves everyone wanting more. Interloper don't disappoint, they are a great band with a strident, timeless groove. Get along to the next gig and support them before everyone else realises what a diamond of a band they are!"
